New Patients
What to expect at your first visit.
01
Book
Book online, call or text. New patient visits are approximately 90 minutes. After booking, you’ll receive access to the patient portal and intake forms to complete before your visit.
02
At your visit
We’ll talk through your health history, what brought you in and what you’ve already tried. Your intake may also include blood pressure, pulse and tongue evaluation, along with a short physical assessment. We’ll also answer any questions you have before treatment begins.
03
Treatment
Acupuncture needles are extremely thin, and most people feel little to nothing going in. You’ll usually rest with the needles for 30–40 minutes. Depending on your needs, treatment may also include manual therapy, cupping, infrared heat, electroacupuncture or gua sha.
04
A plan
Before you leave, we’ll talk about what comes next, how often to return, and any stretches, therapeutic exercises or other home care that may help. Follow-up visits are typically about an hour.

Before you come
- Wear whatever is comfortable. Depending on the area being treated, you may be asked to adjust clothing as needed, and appropriate draping will be used throughout treatment.
- Please don’t arrive on an empty stomach. Eating beforehand can help reduce the chance of feeling lightheaded or dizzy, especially during your first treatment.
- Stay well hydrated before and after your visit.
- Bring or provide an up-to-date list of medications and supplements, along with any recent imaging or lab results that are relevant to your care.
- Please complete your intake forms before your appointment and arrive a few minutes early for your first visit.
Good to know
- Acupuncture needles are sterile, single-use and disposed of after each treatment.
- Most people feel little to nothing when needles are placed. You may notice tingling, warmth, heaviness or a dull sensation during treatment.
- Many people feel deeply relaxed afterward, and some feel a little tired.
- See how you feel before returning to strenuous exercise or heavy lifting.
- Treatment is tailored to your health history, individual needs and any relevant medical considerations.
